    Released to celebrate the golden anniversary of the world's most famous film festival, Cannes 50th Anniversary is a collection of original themes from several movies that won prizes at the festival, including La Dolce Vita, Blow Up, Taxi Driver and Mystery Train. Much of this music doesn't exist well outside of the actual soundtracks, since they were designed as specific mood pieces, yet Cannes 50th Anniversary remains an enjoyable sampler for the film buff, and it does offer a glimpse of composers like Bernard Herrmann and Nino Rota at their best.
